I think it can be done. If you look, you can see a couple of spot welds on the inside of the cone where the factory must weld the outer pully to the inner. I would think a die grinder may be able to grind them out. I have a four groove that I was going to try this to, but I am not sure if the other grooves will line up with the water pump and alternator. Maybe if I get bored one night.

Had buddy cut the neck down to make shorter got carried away with the lath and they came apart (differnt pulley) But i dont know if that was just a weak setup or what that one apeared to just be pressed togeather

I looked this one over real good just now there is no spot welds or welds of any type on this pulley
I'm not going to argue with you , I told you what I did , granted it was with a 2 groove.
Try it and tell us how it works out .

I tried with couple big screwdrivers just now i can wiggle the outward pulley very tiny bit and is slight gap up on the neck where bolts to dampner but not enuff to get anything in there id like to put it in a vice and put a pipe wrench on the neck give it a pull just enuff to see if it would twist but dont have a bench or vice here lol maybe if i slamed it hard against a tree?lol ok just kidding nothen else sooner or later it will meet the lathe
Do you really think they are just stuck together ?

I would not thought so but when we had a 4 groove pulley in the lathe (it was a pretty decent pulley not all rusty) to make 2 groove out of it..... We had the groove section in the chuck and was cutting the neck(needed a shorter neck) all was going good then was rusty smoke and loud scream from the pulley it just twisted right off we looked it all over and no welds of any kind it was just pressed togeather i would of thought it would of been welded also but in that case it clearly was not lol then i caught hell from buddy.... "no wonder mopars are junk they just slap them togeather"

I'd slice it straight down like a loaf of bread w a bandsaw. Ralph I emailed before I saw this thread. Once I drilled out the 5 or 6 spot welds on one & it still wouldn't come apart so I would avoid that

I cut a water pump pully down, I used my thin cut off wheel, and I put it in a vice, cut in a half moon section, turned it, and repeated, then I sanded the edges smooth. Worked fine, spins fine, dosnt woble either. I dont see why you couldnt do the same on a crank pulley.
