Can anyone recommend a good fuel pump capabale of handling a 600HP carb motor? Something that will not sound like a screaming banshee nor break the bank. Went with roller cam...no provision for mechanical pump.

The Holley Black pump - about 140GPH IIRC. The one on my car is much quieter than the Holley Blue 110GPH that it had previously.

I don't know any that are quiet?
I run a Mallory 250 GPH pump. Not as loud as some Holley or Aeromotive pumps I have heard, but I think alot depends on how it is mounted.

I think a lot has to do with how the pump is mounted. If you bolt it directly to the car then the noise is going to be terrible. However, if you mount it with a good rubber insulator, it will eliminate a lot of the noise. But you have to use the insulator(s) in such a way that there is no metal-to-metal-to-metal contact, in other words you can't just put a rubber block between the pump an car and bolt it in, if the bolts touch the bracket then the noise will be transmitted.

You might be interested in a Firecore fuel pump...I tested one of Ricks pumps on my 512 and it worked flawlessly...(140 gph)

Thanks. Yes we do have them in stock. They are a phenomenal pump for what they are rated at. A true 110 and 140 GPH.

Mallory 140. A return style regulator will quiet them a bit more.

So your cam does not have a fuel pump eccentric? You can get them on roller cams... FWIW...

Firecore or Mallory 140 if it were up to me...

The old standby Holleys do just fine..a hair more noise, but dang easy to rebuild.

I'm a firm believer in buying bigger than you need to start with on some speed parts, electric fuel pumps especially. Your starting with 600 HP now and if you want more later (you know you will )you won't have enough fuel supply unles you buy a pump now that will feed 700+ HP. I've been through this more than once Buy a Magnafuel 275 or similar size pump now and don't worry about it later Or better yet a bigger pump like the Magnafuel 300 I ended up buying both because I thought the 275 pump would be all that I would need based on my motor making 612 HP when I dyno it the first time. It was a 512 C.I. low deck "906" iron headed pump gas street and strip motor That motor combination felt so good so I hopped it up three more times since then The last time it was on the dyno it made 775 HP on Oregon pump gas (motor only) Hence the need for the 300 pump now If I want to add NOS then I need a bigger pump, and the beat goes on

Weldon A-600-A pump. Whisper quiet and a well built piece.

not cheap.
but i have been running a external mounted aeromotive a1000 high pressure pump, step down regulator for a carb, and a variable voltage relay box for about 8 years and 50,000 trouble free miles.
runs whisper quiet.
pumps are good for 1000+ hp with a carb

those Aeromotive pumps are sweet- just must make sure you are supplying true voltage and a relay or they wont put out. I had the old SX version on my 10 sec Cuda, worked great and darn quiet. Plan to spend $500+

Holley black, plus they won't break the bank. They will feed a solid 700hp.

I ran 10s in my duster for a solid 2 yrs. with nothing more then a blue. & yes i was able to slow it down when i jetted up.

""Weldon A-600-A pump. Whisper quiet and a well built piece.""

works for me. I have put 38 K miles on one. I have it mounted inside the tank. Feeds 2 750's on a 511 hemi just fine.
