Dave,
Very cool project. Look foward to seeing it done. Do you have the power built for it yet?
You know I love Black but silver is very nice and it will be 20% cooler at the track. That's fact!!! My car and my trailer are always 20% hotter then the light colored ones.
Good Luck Ed
Ed, Thanks and I dont have the engine built yet, but I do have a good .030 over 69 426 hemi block, factory 69 forged crank, a nice set of unported 66 heads, new mopar intake, carbs, manifolds, etc..... First things first though. Body and paint.
It wasnt an easy decision on the color of the car. But, I thought to myself, if I was ordering one of these new, how would I order it option wise. This car will be just how I would order one ( minus the fact that it isnt a convertible ).

Exactly my thinking when I restored my '69 Super Bee a few years ago. It too was missing the original engine, so I went with a color I wanted at the time. I absolutely love the way the Bee looks, but I really wish I painted it gold, which is how it left the factory. This realization happened the day I saw a freshly painted gold '69 Dart at a local show. There is no way I am going to re-do the car as it is a nut-bolt restoration. I too vote for keeping that Coronet silver, but I will go a little further. If it were my car, I would stick with a 440. In its original configuration, that car seems like a gentlemans' hot rod, which is realy cool (plus, that 440 will give you very trouble-free miles).

It's not too late! the cost of the paint is negligeable. It's your car, do what makes you happy, but I have noticed that I've heard many people regret a color change over the years, but I don't remember anyone ever mentioning regretting painting a car the original color. Dave

The car will be at car shows too. It will be as nice as I can make it and still have it be driveable. It will a have a stripe too, a black one.
It doesnt have the hole because this wasnt originally a N96 car. It only had a few factory options. Light group with fender mounted turn signals, 3:23 sure grip axle, buddy seat, am radio, full horn ring, F70 redlines on 14 inch road wheels, power drum brakes and rear speaker with fader.

Nope; as I said earlier, the hole he is asking about is the tach wire hole, not the Ramcharger cable hole. Clearly the blue car was originally equipped with the tach and the silver one was not.
Dave
Yeah, that too.

I disagree that the car will be worth as much as if it was painted A4. the about doing it how he wants? sure, that's fine but he should go into it with his eyes open. This car is a rare and desireable musclecar in a rare and desireable factory color; there is NO way that it will be worth as much with a color change.....#'s or not. As far as the Hemi vs. 440 thing? I'd do it; it can always be changed back with a minimum of effort.
I appreciate your opinion. But when you put both cars hypothetically together for the same price, one in A4 and one in X9, both done to the same level, people in general will be attracted to the X9 more then A4. That overwhelming attraction to a laser straight black car will be equal to the want or need for it to be its original A4 silver color. I like A4 on RS cars, not on WS cars as much. I sell mopars with some frequency, and work with one of the more well known Michigan "flippers" and he also agreed. Now I will reitterate, if Daves car was a all numbers car, I would agree A4 all the way.

We will agree to disagree then; they may be more attracted to the TX9 car.....until they see it's been color changed! Most buyers would rather have it the original A4. I will concede though, that it does depend a bit on the level of the resto; lower end, driver quality stuff attracts people who are a little less interested in originality than a higher end job. Still, I'll stick with my thoughts on the A4 vs. color change to black on this car. As far as the #'s block being present changing your opinion, I'll reiterate what I've said on many other posts; I just don't get how that's all that big of a deal on a Mopar.......all blocks are the same. If it was an L71 Corvette or an LS6 Chevelle, sure......but I think the whole importance of #'s motors in Mopars is an investor driven thing that has been imported from the Brand X camp. It just isn't that important on a Mopar......though there are definitely people who attach some importance to it

I like the way you think. We do agree to disagree. A few years ago when I was into these cars as a enthusiast and less as a flipper, I would have agreed with you more, but since I enjoy these cars as a hobby and as a business, these are two completely different ways to look at it. As a business, black sells fast. Silver not as fast. Back to some pics Dave. Your slacking here!
