1) What are the advantages and disadvantages to having the leaf springs mounted parallel to one another as opposed to spread wider at the front than at the rear? 2) Should a pair of leaf springs when removed from the vehicle maintain a matching arch or should the passenger side spring (Superstock 456/457) display a higher arch? I hestitate to bother installing them with this discrepany. FWIW, Application is a 73 GTX used primarily as a drag car with limited street use. Any thoughts?

In a drag racing environment, you are correct. There is no advantage. In a handling environment, there is some difference. The splayed mount will tend to tighten up the rear of the car and give the feel of an increased spring rate. It also will increase roll resistance and reduce roll steer. It may also provide for creation of a lower rear roll center height, depending on the overall suspension/axle lay out.
On the street, it will create a more solid feeling and predictable handling car. THis is why all E bodies and 71 and up B bodies had the splayed mounting set up.

You´re right, but the SS Springs are designed for Drag Racing only. That´s why they have so much arch, the Mopar road racing spring is designed with an arch of 1" to help steer the car. The superstock 456/457 are designed for drag only, not for handling

True, but that doesn't stop countless numbers of people from running them on the street anyway and then wondering why they look and behave differently.
Every set of SS springs I've ever used did sit higher on the passenger side. To get a more level ride height you can turn up the driver's side torsion bar some.
The splsyed mount was designed that way from the factory. I wouldn't worry about it binding, but if you feel better about them being parallel and have the time to modify, why not.
