My 69 notchback is now stripped down to the bare one-piece body shell for restoration. I plan to weigh it in the near future.

Meantime, all the body sheet metal - doors, hood, trunk lid, front fenders, grille panels, etc. are also bare.

PM me if you want weights of these parts. You might need a list of what each part weighs in steel and in fiberglas to figure out weight savings.

Here's the weight of a totally stripped 69 Barracuda notchback, in case you want to trailer one, make a wheeled frame for it, or if you want to raise the front of one to roll an engine-K frame assembly underneath.

A. With the rear of the body supported 1" in front of the front spring brackets, each rear side weighs an average of 186 lbs, and the front weighs 89 lbs, for a total of 461 lbs. If you place your human body weight in the trunk area (to do work on the rear window frame, for example), the front of the car will rise, unless you add additional support under the rear.

B. If you move the rear supports more forward from the front spring brackets than 1", the weight of the front end approaches zero or less. In other words, when the supports are in front of the center of gravity, the car will tip backwards.

Here's a photo showing how a bathroom scale was used to weight 3 points on the car. A 2" dia washer transmitted the weight to the yellow square tube, and another 2" washer transmitted the weight to the scale. The weight of the square tube was deducted from the weight of both rear sides.

The weight of a stripped B or E body 2-door should be not much different.
