You can get a fiberglass hood is all for the front end. My 88 Dakota weighed in at 3150 lbs with me in it and I weight 170 lbs fully suited up. No real weight taken out of the truck, except all the under dash wiring and instruments, and rear bumper.

Guys, Could you post some pics of your Dakotas - I have a friend who is contemplating building a smallblock Street/Strip Dakota. Drop front spindles or not? Wants to see how they look vs. std ride height. Thanks!
I have refrained from posting because mine is a different body style from the OP. I can tell you what I did to get my front end down. I cut the dodge control arms and cut/welded S-10 control arms to the dodge control arms, moving the tires inboard 2" each and setting my caster too 7 degrees. Some of the issues I ran into are, need lighter springs, need to scollop the frame for control arm clearance, must use S-10 tie rod ends, etc. Sorry, I don't have any pics on my computer at this time.

challenger73400....Love your truck, mine is the same body style. Here's a pic with it dropped 1" front and back...Monoleafs and Caltracs w/ 1" blocks. I'd like to go lower, but it hooks so well I hate to mess with it...
Thanks! Yours looks great! Forgot to mention I also used 2" drop spindles.
