69 Road runner 383. I am looking for a confirmation. 1 out of 20 times, when I go to start the car, I turn the key and absolutely nothing. No clicking, no cranking, nothing. Lights work and it is a new battery. I can bridge the starter relay and with the key on, it will start. What do my expert freinds think the problem, and the cure is to this. FYI relay and the complete motor are new (less than a 500 miles on everything)

What they said.
You can ground the starter relay to eliminate the neutral switch.
This should be in question and answer section.

Sounds like a bad starter relay.

Is it a 4 speed or auto?

You have a bad connection in the heavy hot wire at one of the connectors. I had the same problem w/ my Challenger. Tore my hair out till I noticed a black spot in a connector one day. Clip the wires and bypass the connector or pull the wires out and put new ends on them. It will be like a new car.

Is it in P or N when it fails to start? My car does that intermittently in park, but if I move it to neutral it starts every time. I just start it in neutral now. If I ever get stranded i'll ground the neut. safety switch to start it.
