farmboy OP enthusiast F Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 391 kansas	I was planning on building a pretty mild 451 for street use only. I have access to some 400 heavy main blocks. Any reason not to use one of these blocks? Do they sell for much more than a standard 400 block? I hate to use one, if they are in demand for race engines. Give me your opinion. TIA

TIA If they are the 230(I believe thats the number) blocks some guys will pay a good price for them... for a mild street engine, use any good 400 block

One of them that was sand blased did not have the original caps, but I don't know what Brad told you. I'de do the 470 with some real aftermarket heads that flow in the 350cfm range. Dave Been there done that, put money into a 400 block that was thin, didn't have it sonic tested first It split a cylinder wall on the dyno Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964.
