Just wondering if the cotter pin type or nylon locknut type is correct as far as how the outboard control rods connect to the center carb. This would be for a 70 car, but I have one of each type and I think that they're both originals. Does anyone know what would be correct? Thanks

I'm not sure if it was clear what I was asking the way I worded it, but there are 2 different styles of pins that attach the rods to the center carb. One type is a pin with washers and a cotter pin, the other type is a bolt and locking nut (it has the nylon insert in it), like what the reproduction rod kits come with. Was the cotter pin type for the a12 cars only?

My late '70 6bbl car has the one with a hole in it/washers. I may have changed it out but mine uses a hairclip, flat on one side to go through the hole. Could have been a cotter pin I suppose when it was new but that's too long ago for me to remember. It didn't have the bolt together set-up from brand new, I do know that.

I've done a "lot" of original 6pk carbs for a lot of people that still had the linkage attached when recieved, got them both ways.My Superbird has a nut and stud,my old 70 6pk Bee had a pin and clip.

Not to change the topic but does someone have the length of the 2 rods that go to the outer carbs? Thanks John.

Thanks for the help with that, helping a friend with his linkage and the front rod seems way to short. If I turn it in more than 2 turns it holds the front carb throttle plates open and raises the idle. Will check it out for him, John.

I have several pictures on Dodge literature from 1969, on the '6-pack' setups but only had one picture where you could see the linkage. Also this picture was about 3/4" x 1" so I scanned & blew it up several times. I can clearly see the nut but don't know if it will show up on here. So, 69-1/2's could definitely come with the lock nut.
