Hi all I haven't been on this board for a few years but I just wanted to share my very recent experience with having my GTX clone's front bumper rechromed by Ogden Rechrome www.ogdenchrome.com. I was simply stunned at how good the results were. My core was rusty, bent & twisted, I mean UGLY. I was expecting clean driver quality at best and it came back absolutely perfect. Straightening was no small feat as there were several factory compound curves to deal with in the bent areas. The whole process was ridiculously easy too, I just filled out their online quote form with a few pix of my ratty core, they called, discussed the job & gave me a quote. The cool thing is that you just wrap up the bumper & they arrange the shipping. Pricing was very reasonable @$429 including shipping both ways. Definitely top notch service. They will definitely be doing my X's rear bumper and the bumpers for my '68 Bee. Pics below:

A better alternative to BumperBoyz???
I think spray painting the bumper yourself with like chrome paint would be a better alternative to the boyz ...

I really must have got lucky with my set then. We did look through a few to find the ones we wanted at the Nationals though. Got em' 6 or 7 yrs ago.
Dad is looking where to get his rechromed for his GTX.... (obviously staying away from BBoyz)

Just wondering, what is wrong with Bumper Boyz? I think we've had a couple bumpers done by them in the past.

Some people have had quality issue.
IMHO, Faith Plating ( www.bumper.com )in West Hollywood, CA is much better than bumper boyz. And it would not surprised me if they could match the price of this ogden chrome.

I guess if you want to shop around, you'd have to get quotes and compare prices and processes. I noticed that Faith doesn't mention whether they chemically strip the old chrome in their "standard" process like Ogden does. Makes you wonder how much time they spend on your bumper if they do 200 bumpers a day as stated on their website. From my perspective, I got stunning results from Ogden with absolutely no hassle at a fair price. What more do I need? They'll be doing 5 more bumpers for me in the future. I'm sure Faith would be fine too, but Ogden is now a known quantity to me, so they are now my plater of choice.

Looks nice! As far as pricing goes, Ogden quoted considerably less for my rear Super Bee bumper because of fewer curves + no turn signal cutouts. E body bumpers would likely be less too. Since I am 3 hours from LA, having the Fedex man deal with it is way easier. Thanks for the info though, its good to know there's other good ones nearby.

That's what I have heard from a lot of people. I was "told" That BB sends all the bumpers to Mexico for the work and then brings them back. True or false or somewhere in between.

1KoolBee, thanks for the positive feedback on www.ogdenchrome.comSame to autoxcuda for Faith Plating www.bumper.com It's good to get current input on this. Shops come and go, and quality varies. I still have to pull the trigger on a bunch of stuff for the van. Input is helpful, especially if you gotta ship hard to find stuff out. There is a guy on HAMB with a fantastic 1955 caddy that also used Ogden and is very happy. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&page=25Bumper boyz has a bad name on the net for work and customer service.
