Its Winter time and things are a little slow on Moparts so I would like to start a post about nitrous. Do posts posts about 9, 10, and 11 second cars impress you. I am old school and believe anyone should be able to achieve these times with NA combo's. Anybody can go out and spend 400.00 and bolt on a SYSTEM, open a valve, and push a button. What is the skill involved with this. Build a 11 second engine, add a bottle and brag about how fast your car is. I think we should have two fastest car lists on Moparts. One for NA and one for making HP the easy way. Old school racer here that takes pride in doing it the hard way. Heck even 8 second nitrous cars do nothing for me.

PittRacer,
Don't look now, but your ignorance is showing...since you've never ran nitrous that is to be expected. As far as being impressed..totally subjective...honestly I've never went to the track thinking, "Boy, I hope I really impress someone today".

Quick is quick... granted I dont spray(wife wont let
me) so I do appreciate a N/A engine more thats quick
BUT alot of guys cry at my car because its light,
so its sorta the same thing, so I dont put any
stipulations on anyone as to how they do it

I understand the "easy way" mindset when applied to street trash. However, a true race application isn't as easy as bolting it on and winning.

I have my own discriminatory mindsets on car stuff, but try to keep an open mind on most.
Just don't tell me that you are putting a 305 chevy into a mopar rod, because it's cheap.

Lots of ways to skin a cat in this deal. I tend to appreciate anything that I feel runs hard for what it is.

I told one guy with the same thought process this... You build your biggest baddest mill go run it. I'll put a 100 shot on it and beat you with your own stuff!

n2o is great for someone that needs to keep a car relatively tame for everyday use and running hard at the track.

My way may not be your way, and it takes more than pushing a button to get a n2o unit to run right.

As a racer that is all Natural (NA) I race with guys with the as they say Bottle Baby. A cheap way to make HP and It's not as easy to make it work as some thinks. Parts/Timers/% of mix/Dry/Wet/and the expence of running it. I could put it on my 9 Sec car but It would be a ticking time bomb. You need to build your junk to handle the juice..

I like the idea about 2 different Fastest Mopar forms.. We all know that it takes Cubic Inches to make a mopar go fast. and to go faster we need Turbo's/Juice to compete.

I dunno, when I was running 12.0's with a Slant 6 street car a lot of people were paying attention.

Build a 9 second NA car, then come back and talk smack. If nitrous was the easy way, EVERYONE would be doing it.

In a word -"NO!Yes, there's skill involved in tuning & driving a nitrous car & yes, hp by any means is still hp, but let's keep in mind why it was used originally--- an easy way to increase hp in an engine when you don't have the time, money or extra skill to wring out the extra power. Automotive guys adopted it for their cars to cheat or gain a quick, easy edge & the "race was on" as they say for more hp.
Now correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the reason alot of us go into this car "thing" was to learn about engines & how to improve on them? Nitrous to me, seems like a skilled person's lazy way to improve performance. Never mind the expense & parts breakage issue, where is the fun searching for & finding that extra tenth or more of e.t. when all you have to do is boost the amount of juice & perhaps adjust a suspension piece & there you are!
Nope, sorry, I'll say-----nitrous doesn't impress me........

I'm not impressed at all with nitrous cars, and for a large part I'm not impressed much with any power adder car. Although the thought of building a turbo car is working in the back of my brain .

I PREFER the NA stuff. Before anyone throws aroows I have done it both ways, power adders and NA. Both my turds are well down in the 8's and both are NA weighing in at 2900 and almost 3400lbs. Both are also "small" engines. Just a different way to get the job done I suppose. Running low 8's either way is not easy but IMO doing it NA sure cost lot more

And ALOT are doing just that... it is a cheap form
of power until you figure in filling the bottles all
the time.... but it isnt a fix for a bad tune up like
some people tend to think... I've seen guys try that
with some BAD results

can a skilled builder make 8000hp N/A? can they make 2500hp? can thy even make 2000hp? N/A motors are limited boosted are not. as long as you have a large bank account
