We are nearing the end of our 426 Hemi rebuild and need some help. Is their a source for a quality re-useable type valve cover gasket for the 426 Hemi engine? Also, I need a set of good orings for the spark plug tubes. Thanks in advance for the help/advise.

Thanks! By chance, do you have any contact information for both of those folks?

I just went through the O-ring deal with my hemi and found that if I used a #318 sized ring that it makes a good tight fit around the tube and a firm fit into the valve cover - I have no more leaks. I do not know the specs of the O-ring that Arruzza sells. I also came across a metric sized one that fits really good as well. If you go the Arruzza route please let me know what size they are using. O-rings at the local supply house were about 45 cents each. I use the Fel-Pro #1629 valve cover gasket, it has a thin steel core with two thin cork layers. I like the steel layer as it keeps the gasket from shifting around but I did notice that the fit wasn't 100% perfect with repro MP valve covers so I did need to shave off a little to make if fit perfect. More than likely it might have been the valve cover but just a heads up to dry fit it first. Last time I bought a set from Mancini they were almost $50. I haven't seen the reusable gasket - must be new???

Here is my helpful tip of the day. When installing sparkplug tubes put the O-ring into the valve cover first... then slightly oil the outside of the tube before inserting into the valve cover. If you do it the other way it tends to just push the valve cover down and distort it.

Thanks for posting your expirience. I`ve decided not to use the Arruzza orings. I`m not willing to pay $30.00+ shipping for 8 orings when I can buy orings locally for less than .50/ea. I will look into the #318 orings you used for your Hemi.

This is the other recent thread I started about the hemi tube O-rings.
O-ring topic

When you select your O-rings maybe try to get one of the metric sized (5mm x 30mm) and one #318 and test fit to see which one you like better. Personally, I liked the tighter fit of the #318. I swapped mine out last weekend and I was happy with the results. With this size though you will need to install the O-ring first over the tube then slide the tube down into the valve cover. I gave the final push using the palm of my hand to seat the O-ring. I use a small pair of channel locks with rubber caps on the end to pull it back out but duct tape on the tip of the jaws would probably work as well.
I certainly don't want to take anything away from what Arruzza or any other Mopar vendors carry out there - just saying that this worked well for me...
