chasing leaks and wind noise on my 70 duster. new weatherstrips at the time of the resto a few years ago.

are they supposed to be glued in? right nor, its held on the door by the little plastic clips, and around the door window by friction in the channels.

replacing weatherstrips in a corvette this weekend made me think that this may have a bearing on things.

I thought they had little christmas trees on the rubber...
they might not come on the replacement rubber... we use
to glue cork sheet stock behind the rubber to shim it...
also check the body lines on the door to see if the
door can come in a little... then you either adjust
the striker and/or the door on the hinges... I just
went through this a week ago on my Jeep... all 4 doors

I've parted out a few of these cars. The door seals are held in with clips alone. The upper rubbers that seal the window have been hit and miss. Some have had an adhesive and some have not. Maybe it is my own weird luck or maybe it was due to cars being built at different assembly plants. These cars usually seal up fairly well. Sometimes a slightly misadjusted door or window glass can cause a leak.... Good luck.

Did you replace the foam backing on the roof weatherstrip retainers (moldings)? Are the weatherstrips properly seated in them? windows adjusted for a nice tight fit?

and thats what brings me to my post.
i do have the foam backing on the retainers. put them back in where the heads of the screws lined up with the witness marks in the stainless.
i have never been able to get a CONSISTENT tight seal with my windows. seems like i get a good seal with a couple of closingsm then it goes back out of adjustment.
i "think" i have the seals seated properly. any good pictures of how they should look properly seated?

thanks
michael

Mopar wind noise bulletin here for 12 bucks used:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mopar-Service-Reference-Book-70-7-Wind-Noise-and-Air-Leaks-/350490663487

Also new at Amazon for more $.

Heard about a technical service bulletin that the front lower corner of the glass wing vent near the A pilar was a culprit due to poor fit in the rubber gasket, and the fix was to add dum-dum (black caulk)there at the front corner.

Info and photos on the TSB is here:

The discussion is about 1968 B bodies, but there may be other years and bodies with the problem.
