I just ordered the B1 package that is posted here on Moparts great deals area. I am having them set the heads up and do the stage 1 port job, bowl blends,
For sure the B1 originals will make good power. And the yearly winter sale is the right time to buy them from Koffels. I will let the guys that have run them tell you about the value of upgrading the porting and rocker gear. And I assume you know the piston valve reliefs will need to be made specifically for these heads.

Im also building a B1 Original engine over the winter. I came a hair from buying the package deal from Koffels, but when this package came up for sale locally, Id need brain surgery not to have jumped on it. These was fully ported with T@D 1.75 paired rockers. This engine will have some good parts, and it is a 499 low deck with a .800 roller, and 14:1 compression so it out motivate my junk well..

I short thread hijack..... Im not sure yet Ari I will let you know... Old Combo 493 with 12:1 compression fully cnc'd 440-1's with 375-380 cfm at .800 Cam was a PRH .790 Roller. Pretty basic combo, back then there wasnt all these crank and rod choices. It was a eagle crank with eagle rods. Indy Single plane, and Dominator. The truck weighed about 3300 lbs with driver and ran 9.60's 9.70's. Id say it made a true 700hp Id say, maybe less maybe more. Pretty much same basic parts, single plane intake, similar cam specs, same basic engine low deck Vs tall deck..The low deck has a Billet crank and aluminum rods however. A hair more bore diameter 4.375 vs 4.350 for the low deck. Indy engine had 1.7 Jesel paired rockers vs Low decks 1.75.. Only major factor is the compression which will be several points more in the low deck. So how much better will it run? Substantially, My guess. With the better parts, more flow, lighter reciprocating weight, and a considerable jump in compression??

Give me a little input on the supplied rockers, if you would?
Being that they are an extruded aluminum shaft rocker, they are just not a good robust rocker to handle the type of cam and spring pressure you should run with those heads. My 526 B1 used Jesel paired rockers. I ran about 400# on seat. Cam was about .875 lift.

you should of went with the B1MC heads. as for the rockers that come with them from koffels they are JUNK... you will have nothing but problems. get the t&d rockers for it. two per stand and go with push rod oiling for the top end. i had the B1MC heads on my 572ci. the rocker didn't make it through the burn out on the first pass of the motor. i have lots of pictures on my other computer if you want to see them. they are good heads just don't buy the rocker that come with them. my B1MC motor after fixing the rocker problem made a little under 1100 hp. good luck with it. i sold my B1 motor two years ago and went to a predator motor. PS clean out your mail box.

PM box cleaned. I didn't realize there was a limit. The rockers came with the package, but I will be upgrading as I said.
I'm looking for cam suggestions . I was going to call comp and talk with them. As for my car
around 2650 lbs. with me in it, tube chassis, 456 dana, 14x32 goodyears, 2 spd glide with 5500 ptc, ladder bar car. I do have 17x33 tires and also 410, 456, and 513 gear sets. I dont plan on pushrod through oiling

You have a nice motor there Did it make 1100 HP N/A with one carb on Koffel's dyno? What does your car weight and MPH in the 1/4? Maybe it's totally maxxed-out? I know the 446" -1 motor wasn't maxxed-out at 700ish HP. For this reason, I feel this isn't a good example for comparison purposes only. One thing I will ad is the kit rockers are highly prone to failure using roller cam spring pressures. They don't belong in that kit IMO. You should have no problem eclipsing 750 HP though even with a flat tappet.

Not for nothing Alan, but might I make a suggestion. In my opinion, you wont get the cam your combo really needs by calling Comp Cams. Why would you do that when you have Scott doing the porting, and who will know better than him what the heads need? You can get 2,000 recomendations for a cam, but the guy who has done the heads should be more than capable of suggesting a cam for his work.
You'd stand a better chance of staying married to a Kardashian for more than 32 days, than you would of getting thru to Comp Cams techline and getting a good suggestion for that combo...
