This one is a two part question.

1.Can this be installed fairly easily on a car that was not so equipped?Does anyone have some pics of how it is installed? This is my first B-body and have never seen the setup before. It gets cold where I am and while the car is apart would be a worthwhile upgrade.

2.Are the parts readily available?Or do you have to score a setup from a donor car?Is there anything different on the dash?I have the ralley (spelling?)dash. As always thanks for your help guys

Pretty easy install. They were common to have dealer installed and sold out of the accessories catalog.

I put one in my 68 Barracuda Notchback when I lived in Iowa. They don't work very well. Nothing close to modern heated grid rear defrosters.

All it does is de-fog your rear window. Just the interior fog on the glass. So when a couple of people get into a car and thier breathing and body heat caused a differential in the cold outside the car, fog is formed on the inside of the glass.

They blow air from the inside of the car back on the window sucked from the rear speaker grille. So you can't have two rear speakers unless you buy this offset adapter that pgclassics sells for $159. BTW It's not heated air. Some have a coil inside that people think is a heater, but it is a resistor for the two speed blower motor. And has extremely little effect on the air passing by it.

No new parts available except NOS and the adapter brack from PG Clasics. So get a complete unit.

Well sounds like maybe not such a good uprade.will the heater take care of it quickly?I've never really driven my challenger in the colder weather. This car will get driven much more just don't want any saftey issues. Is there possibly something better out there? Thanks

in all honesty, it wouldn't be worth the hassle. they straight up don't work except to blow air on the window. buddy had one in his RoadRunner back in the day. this was back in Upstate NY. the thing did nothing but make a bunch of noise.

I have one in my 69 rr. I agree with the other posts. It's not heated air. Mine also has a separate switch in the dash. That may be the hardest part to find.

How does yours work in getter fog off the inside of your rear window?

pulls heated air from the inside the passenger compartment - if it doesn't get warm air , it doesn't blow warm air

Mine is pretty useless. I think the window gets cleared mostly from the heat/defrost instead of the rear window unit. It was in mine so i left it but i wouldn't go to the trouble of adding one in my opinion.
