thinking about trying a 1050 dominator next year on my indy headed 408. who makes the best 1" 4150 to 4500 spacer to fit my indy 360-3? looking for best performance.

I use the Wilson adapter but it is expensive. The adapter is about 1/2 the cost of new intake. If you're going to switch to a Dominator you might want to just go ahead and buy an intake with the 4500 flange.

Man, Wilson thinks their stuff is gold I guess. I run the 2 1/4" spacer/adapter from Moroso and it`s cheap and can be blended into your plenum nicely and quickly. I can`t imagine a 1" adapter working too well w/the butterflies so close to an abrupt turn/angle but that`s me.

If you can't fit the tall adapter, buy a manifold w/ the 4500 flange. I don't think you'll see any gains w/ the dominator using a short 1" adapter.

I understand your point, but a Dominator on an adapter isn't necessarily a true test. The intake manifolds which are designed for a Dominator usually have the plenum designed differently.

Also, 4500 intakes are usually designed as "race" intakes with raised runners and other changes. This isn't always the case though, some vendors like Indy just machine the same intake differently for the 4500 carb. On the other hand, Edelbrock intakes are usually a totally different design for 4500 carbs.

You could spend money on an adapter and not see any performance increase. But a different intake with a Dominator might pick up a bunch of power.

I run a 2" adapter that has been blended to the ported intake and it works good but have no room for air cleaner. I would like to try a 1" to see if it makes any difference in e.t. so I could possible fit a air cleaner.

I used a Moroso 2" spacer and blended it to the manifold on both my Indy and Edelbrock Super Victor, but my origional intent was to use a 1050 dominator on my 408 anyway.

A few years back Ryan mentioned An adaptor he found that worked better than mounting the Dom directly on a 4500 intake, but can't remember which spacer/adaptor. Also I see Ryan has a mod for the Indy intake 4150-4500 mod. Anyone know what the cost is on this mod.

On my W-2 I use a 2" adapter but on my W-9 I milled
the 420 intake to take the carb direct on the manifold...
I didnt think I needed more plenum volume with 405ci
plus I didnt want to have to change the air pan on
my scoop if I change engines(thats how much taller
the 420 is over the Indy W-2)
