Wondering what size tire to order for the 69 Coronet Im getting soon. It has some old junk bias ply tires right now,and I want to get some BF Goodrich Radial T/A's?
I want to fill out the wheel well a little more than the stock size tire, but I don't want to over-tire it.
Does Goodyear make the Eagle ST anymore?
Thanks guys!!

i don't see eagle STs online anywhere. bf goodriches are awesome, but look at the ratings vs. the firehawk indy 500. they have them here:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=Radial+T%2FA

versus

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Firestone&tireModel=Firehawk+Indy+500

if you are only going for the look i like the bf goodriches better. i think as far as the sizes are concerned, i have read several times that youo can fir 295/50/15s in the back on a 10" rim with 4" backspacing, which is standard. i think you could fit 295/60/15s as well...

275 60 15 on a 8" rim always looks good under a Coronet.

225 70 R/14's. No more Eagle ST's. Running Dunlop Qualifiers now. If Michelin makes a RWL, that's what I'll buy next time.

BFG Radial T/As
275/60R15 on the back
235/70R15 on the front

Both are 28" tires.

what size rim and offset for the 275/60 15 do you use on the green GTX?
i have 68 Cronoet and I just bought set of 275/60 15 rear tires off somoeone so now I have to order large 15 steelies to fit them.
do i assume a 15 x8 rim with a 4.5 offset will be fine to fit the well of my coronet without rubbing?
thanks!

That's right.

I went to 235/70R15 rather than 225/70R15 on the front because they are the same diameter (28") as the 275/60R15's on the rear. That way I only need one spare tire - good when you have posi-traction on the rear.

Sweet Bee!

What kinda tires are those and what size rim with off set?? THe suspension appears to be above the tires, how is it done, SS springs? Air shocks?

Thanks for the nice words , rims are 15x8 and 15x10 with 4.5 backside front and rear , 5" back on rear would work better though . Rear springs are station wagon 6 leaf with the hanger fliped and poly bushings in the eye and HD shackles with poly in them too . Tires are Toyo Proxies ST in rear and Toyo TPT in front . Car tracks real nice and corners suprizingly well Too . .96 T bars in front and sway bars front and rear . Car is firm but rides very well .

Great post. I really appreciate the pictures since I am still trying to decide on wheels for my 68 Coronet R/T.

Considering Magnum 500 repops but I have always liked the Torque Thrust D wheels.
