will a 2001 ram transmission work or the pump from that trans work in a 99 ram?
yesterday when I crank up my truck to come home from work the trans
was making a strange noise when I put it in reverse not so bad in drive?
I have notice the truck act like the brake or grabbing hard like it done before.. could the shift solenoid going south on me again or could the brake pad doing that? thanks for any info!

The pumps are the same, does it try to stall in reverse.. if so could be a cross leak in the pump causing the converter coming on...wiring should be the same..triangler transducer and pressure solenoid should be the same, bolt in.

in reverse the pressure can reach close to 300 psi, there is a bulletin about it.leaking into the tcc passage.sounds like you have another solenoid problem,do not buy them from dodge, they are junk..borg warner has copied the same design and made it better using the epc from a 4l60e..so far no problems w/ sticking solenoids.

so you think the solenoid could be going bad? this be the third time it been replace if that the problem.. how can I check to see if it is the problem? could the cold weather be causing the whine?

The whine is the regulator valve buzzing in the valvebody , the fix is to swap the valve body. Take the valve body from the 01 trans and put it in the 99 trans , if the problem persists it's the trans.

Yes the 2001 trans will work fine in your 99 .

not really transgo makes a shift kit correct this problem...this is kind alike fixing an ailing patient over the phone...

Wow! I couldn't put in some trans X in it? I had the trans rebuilt 3 years ago and had the solenoid replace last year.. I'm really hoping it something simpler...sigh.. I don't think I can change the valve body not that good with trans...

drive it until it gets a little worse, will be be most likely easier to diagnose. there are many reasons for this problem, just have to wait till it rears its ugly ass...
