I need to move my truck about 100 feet so i can get it into a garage.
1977 Dodge.

The ignition switch used to be tempermental, and i haven't moved the truck in a few months. The coil / plugs / wires / cap / rotor are new. Turn the key and nothing happens, not even a click. BAttery is just off the charger, practically new and shows 12.7 volts.

I have the dash gages pulled out to replace a few of them. So ammmeter and voltmeter are not hooked up, just electrical taped over.

I don't want to get into troubleshooting or replacing anything at the moment. I just want to move the rig and troubleshoot later. Have a 'remote starter trigger switch' hooked up to the starter solenoid lead so i can crank it over.
I Think i've bypasseed the ballast resistor before and ran a wire directly from battery to coil[+] for juice in the past.

Am i remembering correctly ?

Again, i just want to run the truck for a few minutes, for a 100 ft relocate to dry garage.
Thanks.

you can do that to get it going.
don't forget to unhook it or you will burn out the coil.

you could also connect the 2 lines from the amp meter together and you should get power to start.

That will work. Just make sure you dont have any loose exposed hot leads under the dash that could short if bumped.

5 pin ECU/4 terminal ballast? Yes you could run 12V to coil positive and 2 pins on a 5 pin ECU need fire also. See the archives. (1 pin if a 4 pin ECU). move it as fast as you can

Yes 5 pin ECu / 4 post ballast.

Well nothing is coming out of the coil to distributor lead [ i have it taped close to metal bracket for A/C compressor to check for spark ]

Will have to go look into the archives
I know this is hokey way of doing things....

I can't find what i need in the archive. ECU pin explanation.

I'm going to save up some $ and ask santa for an MSD box/ distributor/ coil / and wires like i put on my other car. It worked first crank, directions were straightfoward, troubleshooting wasn't necessary.

Thanks guys.

ECU pin explanation.

jump fire to (1) the "point" of the ECU (red wire) and not to the black/yellow next to it but the next one over, (2) the dark green

We use to call that "Hotwired" perhaps you've heard the term...
