Hi, I just got a amd R/T hood. I used to have a lift off hood so about 15 years ago or so I pulled all my latch stuff and threw it in a box. Now having a highschooler mentality I didn't mark a thing. So now I have a box with about 20 parts in it? Does anyone have a picture or illistration on how this latch assembley goes? Thanks so much. -Mike.

And on this same subject, I have a good friend with a '70 R/T Challenger that needs a hood release assy. He's been looking at swap meets for years & still has not found one for a '70. If anybody has one, PM me.

What's different about the 70? Thought they were all the same.

As I recall, the release arm is a little shorter than other years.

70 is completely different

Yep - there we go. Are there any reproductions of these?

Burdar, where did you get the latch stuff? The plating looks nice.
Those are all my orginal pieces. I have a very limited budget so I refinished them myself. I bead blasted them and dipped them in the black oxide solution I'm using on my other fasteners. I don't know why they turned brown but I'm not complaining. They are a little dark in person but look decent in those pictures. My only guess is that some of the original brown plating remained on the parts after blasting. That reacted with the oxide solution and turned brown. Those are the only parts I've dipped that have done that. I think I'm going to try and rub them down with some steel wool. Hopefully they will lighten up. Then I'm going to RPM them.
I bead blasted the spring and dipped it in the solution for maybe 5 seconds. It turned a nice gray color that I'm happy with. The parts won't turn "black" unless you leave them submerged for a minute or two. They won't rust again once they are coated in RPM.
If I had the money I would have sent them to Jules. He replates them the right way.
