i sent my tremec tko to libertys gears because i had some shifting problems. they promised no more missed shifts after they modify the trans.
has anyone dealt with them in the past?

if your having it faceplated, their right. your wife should be able to powershift it after that.

I agree. I had them Pro-shift/Faceplate my 833. Shifts great. At the time (a few years ago) I dealt with Paul and Craig...good guys.

Now I have to disagree with that statement,I think that a face-plated transmission will last much longer and and shift easier on the street.
I have a face-plated Richmond 5-speed in my car and it's a much better transmission for street/strip than a my older Pro-shift 833's
The face-plates actually interlock with each other which prevents the transmission from popping out of gear on decell like a Pro-shift unit can do after it starts to wear out.

x2 on that, my 833 is pro shifted on sec gear and face plated on 3rd and 4th. The only gear that wears out on the street is sec gear, and the only gear I cant power shift. Liberty now makes a face plated sec gear for the 833s. I will be putting one in this winter.

I'm not super familiar with what Liberty does, but I thought I read somewhere that they don't faceplate the TKO, they do something with the syncros, or swap them out to better ones...something about taking the bronze ones out and going with Kevlar syncros?

Faceplating with an A-833.....how are the manners on the street? Will it Clunk or anything, driving normally on the street? What about downshifting? Do you have to match speed? Double clutch? Noise when engaging gears without a stop ring?

Noisy, yes they clunk going into gear, down shift easy but still clunk and wile you are driving, if you excel and then de-cell it will clunk. My car is a 71 Valiant small block but it has a 700 lift cam, so if I am cruising at low rpm it will buck back and forth so I cruise in sec gear and keep my rpm,s up. keep in mind for me its all about having the best trany for the track and still mopar. I am pushing 650 Hp to the rear tires and just into the 9s in the 1/4 so a little clunking on the street is just fine with me.

yep they clunk. you can downshift without double clutching the faceplate, just takes a little driving time to figure it out. the face plate is really a good way to go on a street/strip car. i would have loved to have a faceplated 2nd. guess they can syn first gear also, thats the only way to go. i always hated rolling up to a light then having it turn green while the car was still rolling without the syncro on first.

my dart was just a little to heavy for a chrysler box, i might piece together another liberty for my RR.

I had HPMike do my hemi box 3 years ago. He left syncro on first, pro shifted second, faceplated 3rd and 4th.

I drive it on the street but just skip second and go to third. And with the Ramrod shifter I just hold it down and tap the clutch. Shifts like Butter!

What is Faceplating... Look at the trans picture above. It has all of the gears conversions in it. 3rd and 4th are face plated. See the lugs that are star shaped on the end of the gears. 2nd gear has the liberty conversion on it and first has been slick shifted. (removed every other tooth) Look on the Liberty site for a comparison too.

how many passes before the teeth let loose? is this common? or just to much hp and weight? the reason I ask is that I was thinking of this route for my challenger 3680 pounds with a new 505 stroker in it, for drag week. the 18 spline held up fine last year with the 440.

3 passes at the track, and a handful of street use. it was in the dart in my sig. used a softloc clutch also.
