Is there a simple way to determine proper size? Obviously too small would result in overboost. Too large I would imagine would result in a boost surge.

I've always read that it depends on how big the turbo is, and how low the boost that you are wanting to make. You need a bigger wastegate if you are going to be keeping the boost down. Thats just my SOme guys say that you can't have a big enough wastegate
