Freshening up my 360 with a 4" crank/pistons, 9.25:1 CR and a slightly bigger cam. Currently running Edelbrock RPM heads, stock 4bbl cast iron intake, Hooker Comp headers and MP 221/228 cam. Is there any benefit to tapping the blocked rear coolant ports at the intake for rear coolant crossover? I don't have a problem with engine coolant temp, just wondering if there is a benefit in consistent cylinder temps to support making the mod while I have it apart. Motor is in my '88 Ramcharger - 4 spd manual, D60s, 4.10s, on 37s.

Thanks,
Ty

not sure if there would be any benifits. cant see where it would hurt. maybe plump the back 2 soft plugs together..
I have thought about drilling a spot on the pass side to put a mech temp guage in it..

I am truckless..

I thought both of the rear cooling ports are both 'outs' so tying them together wouldn't accomplish anything...

Here are some other cooling mods. Pictures are re-hosted on the last page of the thread.

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll do some reading and see what I can do to improve the flow. Interesting about the clearance with a stock style waterpump. Didn't ever think of measuring the space between the impeller and timing chain cover.
