What is a hot street hydraulic cam that works well in one of these combinations. Are you using the valve springs that come on the head assembly or one from the cam company. Also, what is a good adjustable rocker arm for the $$ that can be used in this set up. Going in a E body with a automatic transmission.

Thanks!
Dan

Without more info, gearing, converter stall, importance of idle quality etc,it would be hard to give an accurate recomendation. Call Bullet racing cams and give Tim Goolsby all the info and don't second guess it. For a very nice and reliable rocker I've used several sets of rockers from Rocker arm specialist in CA. Nice price and great rocker for a street or street strip car. Don't make the mistake of thinking a "roller rocker" is needed or even wanted,it's not in this case.

Talk to Jim at Racer Brown tell him your engine build and he will make you a nice cam. Since you are going to use adjustable rocker arms you should step up to a small solid cam (app 528 lift) he made a couple of cams for me and I had less trouble with the solid cams than I did with hyd cams. (three collapsed lifters). He's a very nice guy to deal with.

I would use the Crane 1.6 gold rockers, and if you have a good converter, I would use Comps XE295HL. This cam will hit hard at about 2600rpm and pull very well.
You'll have good valve lift to take advantage of the heads.
Hopefully they're ported.
That combo with good intake, 950HP, 10:1, good headers should make 500HP.
Maybe a little more but will run very good.
Brian

I have had this setup for 5 years now. I personally like stuff that is mellow, but goes like stink, especially from high speed, hence my 2.94 gears. At first I had a custom solid roller with a big duration and a single plane intake. It sounded radical and ran 12.70s on street tires. I have since switched to a much smaller hydraulic roller custom from Scott Brown and am very happy. The car is definitely faster and much cleaner running despite my wideband tuning before and after the changeoever.

Old cam 255/264 @ .050, about 5 in/hg in gear 1000 rpm.

New cam 230/243 @ .050. Not sure on the vacuum, as I use hydroboost for brake assist. Idle in gear at 850 is no problem. Has a light chop, and is plenty responsive.

I am looking to have a compression ratio of 11:1. Converter stall of around 2800 and a rear gear of 3:91. Idle is not important. What kind of cylinder pressure should I see with a flat top piston and the Edelbrock heads.

The reason I asked about the rocker arms, is because of what I seen stated with the cams shown for a stroker motor on the Hughs site. They say they are recomended due to stock rockers breaking.

If you are not going to use the Edelbock head/cam package in a motor, are you better off buying a bare head and matching the springs and other componets to the cam?

Thanks
Dan

I would match springs with the camshaft. My first roller was a custom from Bullet. I asked for something that I considered driveable. I wound up with something way more radical than I really wanted. I feel Scott is more realistic when it came to manners I can live with. My compression is right on 11:1 with Ross pistions and a cometic head gasket.
