since i can't get any response on my other post i'll break it down into smaller questions.do they make an electronic fuel injection control just to control the fuel and not the spark or is it tied together in some way? been reading some other posts and they all seem too do both.
Megasquirt will go either way.

next question,i would like using my MSD 7 with one coil, this has a lot of fire power and multiple sparks per cycle, can these systems keep up with it?
Absolutely. The XFI just drives the white wire as was said. I have set up quite a few MSD 7 systems with the XFI. The only consideration is to make sure the MSD is well separated from the XFI because of the electrical noise the MSD creates.
You would not use the spark retard or any of the other features in the MSD. The XFI handles all those, including rev limiters, but you can use the MSD rev limiters if you want.

x2 on going all the way and having the ecu do the timing too, it's so simple to do and gives so much control. I'd love to have the spark only side for carb'd vehicles!

I run an old Electromotive TEC II with distributorless ignition. You can see it on the firewall in this pic. It was a pretty advanced system for it's day. The biggest problem I had was the lack of support for it. Very few people know how to tune it. Unlike the EZ-EFI systems, these are compatible with up to 3 bar MAP sensors (30 psi manifold boost). The TEC 3r is a more modern replacement. I haven't looked at the software for it so I can't comment on how it works. www.getfuelinjected.com
