I have never herd of Icon Pistons before and discovered they are manufactured by the same company that builds Silverlights and Keith Black. Anyone used these pistons that can comment on their quality?
99.9% of this board is not going to be able to comment on piston quality (shiny isn't a quality). It takes a lot more than an outside mic and magnification, and the equipment properly to measure piston quality is in the 100'$ of thousand$.
Anyone that has tried Icon pistons can tell you though if there were any sizing, fitting, deburring, or durabilty issues.

Quality - Noun: The standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind I'm thinking the number of members on this board to be slightly higher than .1% that can comment on the quality of Icon pistons. Do you just enjoy or can you simply not help yourself?

I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm just trying to clarify that there several dimensions and relationships on a piston which affect performance that cannot be measured with typical race engine shop inspection equipment, regardless of who's piston it is.

Ah, I see. I was just wondering as it could be taken a few different ways.

Did not read that he was building a Pro STocker...
It's the OP's option to inspect all the parts going into his engine to the best of his ability, or he can just dust 'em off and toss everything together, doesn't make a difference to me.

I used KB forged pistons in the 408 for my old duster in 2007 and they are still going strong.
Been 10.40s and even survived a broken Eagle cast crank....

I have used one set of the KB forged pistons, probally sold under the Icon brand name now . they fit well, balanced well and performed well in the motor on the dyno. The motor is a BB 440 with a 3.91 stroke crankshaft bored to 4.380. I don't remember the part # but they where flat tops with two valve reliefs, using a set of B!-BS heads that had 59 CC chambers the motor had right at 13.0to 1 compression ratio, the motor made 720 HP at 7000 RPM and had not reached peak HP at that RPM This is a bracket motor and the owner was there and did not want to rev it past 7000 RPM, that is the reason for stopping the pulls at 7000 RPM. IHTHs, BTW I'm going to buy another set with a reverse dome for a street and strip motor with the same stroke and rod lengths asthe bracket motor, I'll be shooting for 10.5 to 1 comp. ratio for pump gas
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
