I need some help. I have 3 A/C boxes in the loft.

one is marked MODEL 955 - this one I am reasonably sure is 66-67 B-body

2nd one is marked MODEL 959 - supposed to be B-body when I bought them ???

last one is marked 2877?44 ?? can't make out the missing digit , and it has a 1957 below that which I believe is the date code on the bottom of the case half.

All are / were supposed to B-body A/C boxes

Any owners with unrestored factory A/C boxes wanna ck yours? Please?

by my research the B-body boxes -
1969 Box is 29364?7 ? But the parts book calls out pt # 2936466

1970 Box is 2936892

Every one I have,, the Yellow print is stamped on the end right above where the gas pedal would be

I just pulled mine (69 R/T w/ AC SPD Dec 1968) and it was stamped in the same location on the end near the gas pedal as yours and was stamped 2936467 (top line) and 3058 second line.

This doesn't help you ID the one's in question, but suggests there was more than 1 number available on b-bodies for 69.

Kevin, what's the actual SPD of your R/T? My GTX is C16 (and I thought they made a mistake and put the console on the tag twice) or December 16, 1968 and it's an LA assembly car? Which assembly plant for your R/T?

Is the the 3058 for 305th day of 1968?

This is out of a 1969 Charger R/T with a July 1st 1969 SBD

Not the easiest to read with the smudges , but it looks like it might be 2936467

Does the '67 B-body A/C system use the dual heater cores like '68-70? That might give you a clue if they don't.

Yes, 1966 thru 1970 B-bodies with factory air have the dual core heater.

And I think even some of the C-bodies also use a similar dual core heater as well

Mike,
My scheduled production date was Dec 3, 1968 (C03). My car is an LA car (WS23L9E...)

As far as the 3058 goes your guess of the 305th day of 68 would seem possible based on the SPD. additionally, the picture of Bills above (69 Charger) with a mid summer build would also seem to suggest you are right about the second line of numbers.

Kevin

heres what I've found so far.

Model 955 is 1966 and 1967 B-body . I have not found any ink stamped dates codes , as of yet.
Also, this box does NOT have the vacuum thermal delay valve on the bottom of the pass side of the box.
Box case halves, firewall side is left galvanized with the interior side is low gloss black.

Another interesting observation.

I am ordering a stamp from rubberstampchamp.com to reproduce the original stamping as I had my case halves sandblasted and I painted them since the photo.
for the first line 38 Futura bold looks good, but the second line is in a different font. after looking around it appears to be century schoolbook. wonder why they would change fonts? also from a totally anal standpoint i was going to order my stamp with a first line as 2936.467 as there seems to be a half space between 2936 and 467. figured i could then cut out the period with a razor.

Bill,
What do use for ink/paint to stamp yours when you redo them? Was unsure how to reproduce the crappy type transfer that is common (i.e., the black bleeds through the yellow intermittently).

1969 B-body box is stamped 2936467 and this one DOES have the date code stamped on the end of the box.
Both case halves are painted low gloss black.
And it DOES have the vacuuum thermal delay valve on the bottom of the case.

For the ink stamp I use a silk screeners ink, called Ulitmate ink. It adheres on metal just fine and dries almost instantly. I get the ink and pads thru a place called Sign-O-Rama in Evansville In. This is or was a nationwide chain, so ck locally on availability.

But for the one time use, I've used simple rattle can paint.
Wrap a couple of layers of paper towels around a paint can or something similar( it needs to be a relatively hard surface to load the stamp right). And just spray paint the paper towel, essentially soaking it to some degree.

Either one takes practice to get the feel for how much paint or ink you need to accomplish what your after. You only get one shot to make it look right. To much or not enough ink/paint on the stamp or One wrong move and your back in the blasting cabinet to strip it all off and start over( found this out the hard way more times than I care to admit)
