We have a 70 RR currently with a Performance Only 452. 23 spline 833, no mods. 4.3 S60 with a true trac. Tim Hyatt built Mcleod based Soft-Lock clutch. Still playing around with clutch settings, have been dropping base pressure to as low as 3 turns. Original 383 rear leaf springs, have been clamping them and breaking 3/8" Grade 8 bolts on the clamps so clamping must be doing something. Shocks are stock from Advance Auto (I think, bought them when on a trip up to Babylon a few years back). Tires are Hoosier 9x29x15, D07 compound. Just getting used to those. Before were 9x28x15 D06 compound. Typically I launch 5000, 5500 hundred (no two step or anything) Generally if anything have wheelspin issues. Plan to add frame connectors when the engine comes out to fix the roller lifter that got lunched. Best time is 11.67 at around 120. 60 ft's down in the 1.61 range, although it claimed 1.45 once but I have to believe that was a timing light glitch. Car could really use cal-tracs and I am sure new springs and adjustable shocks. The front suspension is the same stock shocks and I have 1" torsion bars for our streets down here. I do drop the front end down until the bump stops are maybe 1/2" off the frame Tranny oil is 80-90 gear oil, Coastal brand I think. It is a blast, no way am I going auto. How long that 23 spline will continue to last in a 3800 pound RR time will tell. I am sure the Tim Hyatt clutch is a big factor in the tranny living. A Jerico or Nash would be nice eventually. I have no problem with non-synchro transmissions, either on the street or the track (actually would prefer it, but currently own the 833). On the street I just tighten up the clutch and put the street tires on. Sometimes I even put the mufflers back on.

Power level and e/t may be good ones to add in here as well...This past years setup is in my sig- junkyard bottom end 360 making maybe 320 to the wheels at the most based on e/t and mph calcs. 23 spline, powershifting every gear at the track Launching at 5k (didnt like 5500, so i went back down) shifting around 6-6100 (light is set at 5900) Trapping at about 5500 (needs more gear) 3400lb car with me in it Using a Centerforce Dual Friction 28x12.5 et streets, stock 6cyl springs and the full caltrac setup, not spinning much (maybe 1 turn?) For fluid I tried a bunch...right now running Castrol Type F in it, but im thinking of running heavy gear oil in it this upcoming season... transmission was always popping out of 2nd on decel and sometimes crunching on the 2-3 powershift towards the end of the season...picking a backup transmission up soon, and im going to refresh both over the winter This thing is never getting an auto

How do the centerforce df clutch work? does it slip and how fast does it wear out?
It does not slip. Seems to be a good clutch but depending on power level it can be hard on parts and wears seems to be good.

Original stock 4 speed 23 spline Power shifting at 62-6500 RPM Launching at 38-4000 (didnt like anything above 4500) 1.62 60ft best. original leafs with one full leaf added and clamped DF Centerforce the best non-ajustable street and strip clutch set up so far. Tires spin very little. 80-90 lube non syn best 7.52@ 93 mph 1/8 mile, should go high 11's in 1/4? 3350 with me in it Not at the track enough to get real consistant, but a blast to drive

Rowing these gears is the best way to enjoy your car if you ask me. I changed to a 833 (18spline)couple of years ago resulting in breaking teeth of the gears, ruining clutches while trying different setups but all without any real luck. This all was with my street/strip challenger with 528 Hemi running 10's. In the end bite the bullet and got myself a tubechassis car and bought a GForce 4-speed and custom AC clutch setup to put behind the same pumpgas street engine. Results; 8,9's and it's still alive Can't improve the funfactor

My setup is:
65 Belvedere II 65 A833 w/ ball and trunion RXT twin Disc Launch at 3400-3500 slipping the clutch Goes like 1.70 60ft Usually shift it at 7200 80w90 gear oil in Trans
All of this behind a 496 B motor, it usually runs around 11.1x at around 125-126.
When I really get after it on the launch it breaks something, last time out I put the 2 step to 5500 and it broke the spring perches clean off of the rear end.
