Is there any problem with substituting synthetic trans fluid for power steering fluid? I have put a steering cooler on this truck and was going to switch to synthetic fluid. I have some syn trans fluid here and thought I would use it. The truck is a carpet cleaning unit that runs off the truck engine. It runs at about 1500 rpm and the fluid smelled pretty bad. The cooler will help the pump last longer. Syn fluid will help too.

Not sure what year truck, but some of the additives may not be suitable for certain seals or hoses. You may get leaks.

I used to care but....... things have changed
