The car is a '70 Charger, 440 with a 727. Any tips or suggestions? I remember reading a thread awhile back, a member slipped one in his Daytona Charger.
I'm getting a low mile rebuilt unit from a buddy that is converting his car to a 5 speed. I'm aware that I will need to shorten my driveshaft. The electronics appear pretty simple. I'll have to do something about the speedo drive, since I'll be using a 3.91 ratio diff versus the 4.56 my friend had. My exhaust may need to be modified to clear. I recall there being some clearance issues in the trans tunnel in some applications. I'd like to convert the trans crossmember to a spool type.
What did I miss? Thanks!

did one of these about 10 years ago. In retrospect, i REALLY REALLY wish i had access to an air hammer. I could have done a MUCH neater job of selectively dimpling several areas of the tunnel. I ended up grinding an 1/8" ( or so ) off the housing extension to gain a little more room where the T bar crossmember goes over the unit.
You want to get the tail of the housing as high as you can. It will help with drivetain angles and ground to exhaust clearance.
It is an fairly easy install.

Sometimes I wish I still had it.

Depending on what GV unit you have? (production changes to the case) floor "bumping" mods will be minimal to substantial inorder to maintain driveline angle, I'd measure what you have now before pulling it all apart, some will compromise driveline angle to avoid cutting, or massaging the floor, IMHO it's best to achieve the correct driveline angle, and the he11 with what you have to do to the floor,...I've done a few GV installs, not as much modifications to the floor as in a Keisler TKO install,....depending on the production date of your unit, you might want to upgrade to the newer control box, as the early units had a habit of "dropping out" the OD at high speed, not a nice thing to happen esp. if your running some serious gears out rear....look for Troy Hawks 69 Tona install/w pics over at Dodgecharger.com

This is a very good write up on the GEAR VENDORS install in a 69 Daytona...
