Guys,

I may want to get my headliner in soon and I had a few questions on what I need to get together. How do I know if the headliner is a 4-bow or 6-bow? I have 4 of the rods that go through the headliner (original headliner is long-gone) so does that make it a 4-bow? Besides the insulation, what else will I need to get this in? YearOne sells clips in sets of 6. Is this enough to get the headliner in or will I need more? What type of glue is used to put in the headliner -- spray or brush on?

I hate to ask so many questions but I don't want to get half way through it and realize I don't have what I need. Is there anything else I need t be aware of?

Car is a 73 Charger SE if that helps. Thanks guys!!

Well, Your new headliner will have pockets that the rods slide into...how many are there? I think most of the 71-up B-bodys are a 4 bow set up but there are also 6 bow headliners also. You will have to check out each rod/bow to see where it goes in your car. Count the number of clips or holes on each side and that should tell you how many bows it originally had. The bows are usually all different lengths , so test fit them to make sure which bow goes where. Use brushable contact cement, it will be less mess and easier to work with. Headliners are a pain in the A**....and take a lot of time to install. a hair blow dryer or a heat gun (watch your temperature settings) will be necessary also.

'73 Chargers are 4 bow. Midway thru '71 production, they went from 6 to 4 bow. Of the 4, 3 are the same size and 1 is slightly longer and it mounts to the C pillar and has 2 springs. To install, also get some(10) of those small $1.00 squeeze clips to hold the liner to the roof lip. Once you get it where you want and tight, then use those U clips to hold permanently.

Have never seen those on a '70s B body, maybe for '60s, but you don't use those on a '73. You do need the 2 rear window listing wires for the larger rod - see pic. They are 5 3/4" from tip to tip and help stretch and shape the headliner from the C pillar to the rear window.
