Hello ,

Looking for suggestions on Stall and gear ratio.

I have a 65 coronet currently has 340/727/513 rear.

My 60 foot is a horrible 2.3 seconds. I am using what I had to run. The motor is approx 500 flywheel HP. I am going to change to either a 4.30/4.56. Plus go with a 4000 stall . Anyone running a heavy car with a small block combo that works? Any suggestions I am new at this and dont want to spend a ton doing it twice to get the best combo.

I dont have a smallblock as I run a 440 stroker now in my 63. But I use 4.30's with a 30 x 9 tire and a 9.5 Dynamic street/strip converter that flashes about 4200 and drives great on the street. Ron

4.56 and 4500 stall would be good. I run a 4000 lb car also with a small block 408. 4.56 gear, 29" tire, and 3500 stall convertor shifting at 6500 with 60 foot times @ 1.68. 3500 stall isn't enough convertor for my set up and I am looking to go to a 4500 convertor. Depending on where you are shifting, you could even go to a 5000 stall convertor IMO.

I was thinking the 4.56 but I have stock wheel wells and was not sure how tall a tire I can get. I am shifting at 7000rpm. I was thinking of going to Dynamic for a convertor. Thanks
