Question....

What could have been deleted on a 63 Maxie? I know the heater and radio could have been deleted, but what about other items like carpet(rubber mat?) or outside mirrors?? Is there anything else? If the radio was deleted would the fender have a plug for the antenna, or would it just not have been punched like the later cars?

TIA

MB

In that era, radios were optional, so "radio delete" wasn't really the option, as it would be nowadays. Heaters were generally standard equipment, but were commonly deleted on factory race cars as well as cars ordered for tropical climates. Likewise (as regards radios), clocks, windshield washers, seat belts, and outside rearview mirrors were optional until fairly well into the '60s. So they weren't so much deleted as not ordered. It's semantics, I know, but accuracy exists in the details of language and terminology as much as in a restoration.
My '63 Savoy's fender was never punched for an antenna as it was not ordered with a radio. Likewise my '68 Roadrunner.

Topside is correct, radios, heaters, outside mirrors and seatbelts were all options you had to order '62-'64. There was no way to delete carpet or rubber mats but the jute backing was left out on aluminum package cars.

The lower model lines like the 330 didn't come with carpet but had a rubber floor mat as well.

Does anyone have under-dash pics of cars without a heater (heater delete)?

My '63 Savoy aluminum nose car had rubber. Now if someone would just show me where that darned choke knob goes on the dash of a '64 Savoy maxie...
