Hey guys looking for a new carb for my 360. I bought a pan to carb 360 and it came with a modified chokeless Holley 750 DP and really would prefer something with a choke for easier starts on a street car. Here the specs..

74 360 bored .030 with milled dome pistons(was told Forged but think there KB Hypers)
J heads with nice runner porting and minor bowl work 2.02/1.60 (68cc)
10.07:1 compression
Racer Brown Hydraulic cam 238@ .050 and .485 lift (stock rockers)
Holley Strip Dominator intake
Holley 750 DP with milled choke horn and drilled primarys
MP distibutor and Crane Hi-6 Digital ignition
Hooker Comp ceramic coated headers

All hooked to a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, iron close ratio A833 4 speed, 8 3/4 with 3.91's with 325/50-15 Drag Radials (28"tall) in a 72 Duster.

So what would be a better choice, a Quick Fuel ss-750 or one of the new Holley Ultra 750 DP. And also if Quick Fuel, should I go with down leg or annular boosters. Heres the carbs...

What do you guys think? The 750 dp on it now is an older carb thats has been rebuilt, runs good but has a little bog when the secondairies open, havent really messed with it too much but would really like a choke here in NJ.

I run the SS-750-AN on my 340 and I love it. It has all of the adjustability that you will ever need plus annular boosters.

Last build I used the Quick Fuel carb...Runs great and has some upgrades and adjustments you don't get with the holley...And the electric choke works great...

I put a 750 ss on a customers 440 and it worked great. I liked all the extras, and it was less than a holley (deal).
This one did have major bog issues that weren't hard to tune out.

Thanks, did you guys used down leg or annular style? My neices boyfriend just bought a Quick fuel ss 750 with the downleg boosters for his 350 Nova, and broght it over, very nice looking carb!!!

Just got off the phone with Quick fuel and they recomended the SS 650 carb, which is a manual secondairy DP. Seems like most guys with worked 340/360's are running 750's. Does a 650 sound right for a 400+ HP motor or should I go with my gut and get the 750 ?

A smart salesman would sell a small carb.. good for return business.

My since I own a similar combo and have gone thru a few carbs...

Loose the vacuum stuff, loose the choke horn, and loose the down leg boosters and go with annular ones. Far more responsive, and great driveability.

I have a similar one...and its a 750.

Giving QF my specs listed below, I wanted the SS-650-AN DP and they talked me into the SS-750-AN DP instead which is actually 735cfm. I am glad they did and I love the throttle response of this DP. You will need to tune it like anything else but everything on it is adjustable.
If you order directly from QF, you can choose your anodize colors. Instead of the standard red, I chose the black anodize and it looks great in those colors.

Dragula, nice looking carb!!! But out of my price range and really wanting a choke seeing as its gonna be a street car with a trip or 2 to the track.

YO7_A66, your motor looks similar to mine, is yours primarily a street car? Did you find it overly rich or lean out of the box? I know I'll have to do some tweeking with any carb, just want to make sure I get the best starting point. Thanks

Mine is a street car and the carb came rich on the primaries and IFR's, and the secondaries are now just a touch rich too. After tuning this carb with an O2 sensor, I now see how difficult it would be to sell a carb and have it dialed in correctly out of the box.
Mine came stock with 68/82 jetting and .033 IFR's. I am now running 62/80 jetting and .031 IFR's for reference. The electric choke is a nice option along with the adjustable secondary linkage which allows you to adjust the seconds from 1:1, 40% and 60% delay for more tuning.

Thanks guys, looks like Annular 750 QF is the way to go, now to bite the bullet and cough up the dough!!!

So how close to an out of the box carb are the QF carbs? I'm not a carb tuning expert. And that scares me away from one of these.

Thanks for all the help guys, I ended up picking up a Quick Fuel SS-750-AN , a 750 double pumper with annular bosters and electric choke, cant wait to get it and try it out!!!

For anyone interested Amazon has the ss-750 for $487 and the SS-750-AN for $527, best prices I've seen!!! Summit wants $525 and $564 for those carbs.

I finished the season with 63's in the primary (.039 HSAB's) and 78 (driver) and 76 (passenger) side secondary jetting (.036 HSAB's).
Mine came stock with 68's on the primary & 82's on the secondary (.033 HSAB's all around) which were WAY TOO RICH for my setup. I had black smoke right out of the box.

Looking back over the last 2 years with my O2 sensors, I think that the biggest tuning change on this carb was the combination of the jetting and the HSAB changes. Once I leaned these out, my A/F numbers started looking good.

Note: My heads were only bowl blended.

How soon will you have the carb running on the engine?
