Hello, Mr paranoid here. What about the new fuel cells by Aeromotive. Aluminum cell, aluminum pump housing (submerged), filter submerged. Is this a longish term concern w/E-10 fuel? How about with E-85?
Thanks
Curt

Oh yeah...THAT'S gonna leave a mark!

im not sure i would say i have debunked the e85 stuff, but i did let e85 sit in my cell and carb/pump/regulator over the winter, knowing the possible repercussions to see for myself its effects

it all looks like new inside. you cant tell anything

i will say this, drain your oil before the winter, as the e85 will coagulate the oil something fierce.

However the biggest issue is moisture, which breaks the fuel down to acids, which is what causes all the damage. So if different owners have different moisture, air, humidity, contamination, etc, each IMO will likely have different results.

Yup, but I'm not sure how possible that is without a completely sealed system.

I didn't drain my carb last winter and it was a coagulated mess in the spring. This year I took the bowls off and soaked everything with WD-40. I think the aluminum fuel cell would be fine.

Yeah, I live in florida so humidity is severe. There is probably 1 or 2 days a month I don't have to use the wipers before leaving for work...
Thanks,
Curt
