Recently pulled and reinstalled my auto trans in a 69 road runner which everything worked, but had to replace switch as I damaged it during assembly. Now I have no back up lights and car won't start in neutral after putting a new one in. Question is what wires are supposed to light up with key on, I only have one that lights up is this correct? Thanks Moparts!

The two outside wires are for the back up lights, One 12v in the other out. It doesn't matter which is which. The center terminal is Neutral saftey switch which is ground for the starter relay on the fender. Are you sure you got the right switch? Have you tried holding the ingnition swith in the start position and moving the shifter through the gears to see if it may be a linkage adjustment issue?

Just had to replace my switch as it failed. You have a 3 prong one - right?

The center is the neutral safety prong. To check continuity, check from the prong to the tip (metal part) of the switch. You should have continuity. You don't have to press it in.

The outside 2 prongs are for backup switch. Not sure how to check those.

Most likely Stumpy is correct. Make sure the shifter is adjusted properly.

You can put a jumper wire on the 2 out side wires on your pig tail and turn your switch on and the lites should come on. Good Luck Ronnie
