can anybody tell me for sure if the new magnum motors have a right and left head gaskets? i have been having overheating problems on a new rebuild. I have changed everthing that pertains to cooling with brand new parts including a high voleum water pump.

Definately not left and right hand but most gaskets have a front and back, the differance is the coolant holes, the front hole in the deck is blocked to force coolant to the rear of the motor, if the rear hole is blocked it will only cool the front cylinders.

Makes me wonder if this isnt the reason behind why a lot of people chase their tails with the cooling problems they have.

I would check the heat on the side of the block and see if it is significantly hotter at the back than front, the manifold temp can also be affected by slight differances in compression or A/F ratios. Also you may want to check both sides, if you just through the gaskets on one may be right and one may be wrong

i have taken the top end down 3 different times had the heads checked twice and the bought new ones and the last time i realy focused on the head gaskets so im gonna test the heat on the block and not the headers to see if i screwed up somewhere, thanks for the info
