Haven't looked under the car but how hard is it to remove and install a new one?

What has to be removed? Center link?

Its a small block LA in an E body.

Center link and mtr mts etc to jack the eng up a bit. EDIT have the cross in the driveshaft section of the front yoke u joint horizontle so everything can pivot up without binding. I use a pair of hyd bottle jacks on each side with a piece of wood to protect the paint

Mine is an A-body, but I also had to pull the starter and the trans cooler lines had to be worked around. It was easier to remove the pan when I rotated the crank to orient the largest counterweights out of the way (up) as much as possible up front.

Be careful that you don't crack the distributor against the firewall or radiator shroud with the fan when you jack up the engine. It may be necessary to loosen the headers, especially if some of the pipes are right next to the pan limiting access to the pan bolts, and remember that the end exhaust bolt holes will likely leak coolant because they go into the water jackets.

When I did mine in the car, all I did was pop off the centerlink, leaving the tierods still connected, and o nly had the front end of the car lifted. I had fresh motor mounts so I didn't even need to jack up the motor.
