there are several ways to compress them.
I'm lucky, a friend of mine has the tools and I just borrow his.

But the ones I use go in an air hammer - http://www.rivetsinstock.com/rivet-tools/solid-semitubular-rivet-tools.html

Thanks.

An air hammer, eh? It must be a special one with low power. I think if I tried to use my air hammer it would break everything.

Also, how do you hold the head of the rivet when air hammering it?

My air hammer has a light trigger. and seems to work pretty well. Plus the rivets are steel , so it takes a slight bit of effort to compress them( practice practice practice) I probably destroyed maybe a dozen or so getting the feel for it.

The tool itself has 2 pieces to it. The one side has a dish to it that the head of the rivets sets in, this one clamps in a vice. The other end that goes in the air hammer is the end that rolls the rivet over.

I'll take a few pictures later today before I take the tools back.
