Anyone know where I can purchase a quality Shaker bubble? The one I purchased from Ben Snobar is junk - vents are no where near the mounting points, the bubble has separated along the base, the openings are too large etc.
Whilst I purchased the item a while ago, it has been in its original carton it was shipped in and in climate control storage. After contacting Ben to negotiate a solution his response was it is out of the 30 day warranty period and I would have to pay full price plus shipping for another one.

Now that's awful.

Not sure why they are disputing the warranty period, it simply does not fit and would have fallen apart from engine heat/use if you would have mounted it within the 30 days. You deserve a new one.

Thanks for posting and let us know where you find a good one.

Ask for Art, tell him I sent you, he carries Gene Gregory's products at the same prices as going direct, nothing better out there short of the real thing.

Scott, thanks for the reply. A guy here in Australia contacted me as he just purchased one from Six Pack Performance. This is the picture he sent me of the bubble assembly as he received it.

BTW very happy with those Hemi carbs you did for me Scott!

Teamx, yes that's the scoop I was referring to. I'm glad you like your carbs.

Thanks!

I second the Six Pack Performance shaker set-up! Art was great to work with and delivered a great product!

I bought a few from AAR years ago, service from them left something to be desired, quality was good, but Six Packs was marginally better plus Six Pack will pre-fit the grilles for a small fee (worth every penny!).

X2... I got two complete shaker hoods w/ bubbles from Art & they
were really nice. He's a great guy, btw.

Well...I bought a couple bubbles of Gene Gregory's e-bay auction:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bubble-bonnett-f...=item1e77c29f4d

Well...I don't know if these are rejects, or they're cheap b/c he didn't spend the time to finish them b/c the grille mounts seem kinda crude, and no holes drilled.

Grille openings will need some filing down.

I haven't yet fit grilles in them yet (they're over at my other garage), so can't say yet on fittment.

I guess you get what you pay for. Too bad the description doesn't say they need to be finished.

I just hope the grilles fit.

Well ragtop I hate to say it but sometimes you get what you pay for. Gene's bubbles are great, but there's a lot of finish work done to them before Six Pack Performance sells them, hence the higher price. The pictures in that auction look pretty clear to me that they aren't finished yet. At least you should have a quality part as a starting point.

I just finished fitting some of Jerome's grills to a Gregory Shaker scoop, fit was perfect for both components, I'd rather HAVE to fit the grills so that I can control the fit to my liking, rather than that of another individuals idea of fit/finish...If Gene had trimmed the scoop openings to fit one manufacturers grilles, and you used someone elses, they may have left an undesired fit/finish,...then you'd still be having a diaper fire ...you "new guys" to the hobby have been spoiled by whats available, I'd like to see what half the babies here on Moparts would have done 25-30 years ago when there was NO REPRO, NO NOS, and used was far and few....I guess it's the "click,click.com, I want it now, my way, and I want it cheap" world we live in nowadays
