Hey guys, some of you may know of my tranny puking fliud after a short trip. I have been led to believe it may be a slipping converter and overheating the trans.

I am going through the steps to trouble shoot the problem. I need a trans temp gauge, those who may be familiar with them, would you suggest a mechanical or electric gauge ? . pros and cons of both please.

It will be a Autometer "traditional chrome" to match my other gauges and be mounted inside the car.

Thanks in advance, henry

Why is mechanical always better? I have an electric, it's a very easy hook up.

Maybe this will help for the pros and cons.

I would just run a cheapie mechanical. For oil psi, electrics are good because they keep the engine oil out of the cab that way, unlike a mechanical. But temp gauges use a sealed capilliary tube, so there's really no reason to run an electric temp gauge over a mech.
