Where are the critical indentifying numbers on 440 cylinder heads?

More parts from a hoarding Uncle's garage.

there are no 440 specific heads, a big block head was a big block head. be it 383, 400, 440, ect. the numbers will be on runners under the rocker arms/shafts.

On the top under the valve cover area there will be a casting number. We usually identify them by the last three digits, such as "906" or "452".
The bad news is that most B/RB heads are functionally the same, unless you happen across a set of Max Wedge heads. Get a list of the casting numbers put together and then find a list online or come back here.

Where in Minnesota is this cache located?

Yeah somewhat desired these days. Lesser now because of the availability of aftermarket heads vs the cost of having a set of iron heads redone. But you're still going to be able to sell them, maybe not for huge cash but better than sitting.
