I want to install a trans cooler and see basically 2 types out there...an extruded aluminum type (frame rail mounted?) and a fin/tube type (radiator mounted).

Are there performance benefits to either or is it just a packaging preference?

My car is about 85% street / 15% track use.

Also, with either type of trans cooler, do I still use the factory "in-radiator" cooler or do I just remove the lines and cap off the nipples on the rad?

Thanks

I would NOT plug off the radiator cooling section because the extra cooler is just that...extra...

The stacked plated / "extruded" type are better than the tube and fin type .
As far as mounting goes i,ve always made some brackets out of thin flat bar and mounted them up front in front of the radiator with a 1" or so gap between the 2 or behind the front bumper where the license plate opening allows air in. The more airflow they get the better they cool.

Bulkpart.com has some nice coolers at good price$

I would still Run thru the radiator cooler first as mentioned above. That,s how all factory installed aux. coolers were installed.
