All, I searched the archives to find similar combinations, but was unable to find any. Please tell me your thoughts on either street combinations I am considering: Mild stock 72 440 block factory bottom end Stealth heads and steel shim head gasket (to get up to 9.? c/r) stock valve train Lunati Voodoo cam 60302 (or 60303 if it work with power brakes) 69 HP manifolds and 2 1/2 exhaust mp electronic ignition street dominator intake 750 DP or edelbrock 800 hv oil pump windage tray Deep pan Wild stock 71 440 block stock forged crank flat top pistons 10.2:1 with cleaned up 915 heads crane roller rockers Crane Cam .300/.310 duration and .557 lift Would move up to headers mp electronic ignition Edelbrock CH28 intake twin 500 edelbrocks hv oil pump windage tray Deep pan Either engine would be going into a 69 charger with a 727, either 2,800 (or 3,000+ Wild) stall converter and 3.55 (or 4.10 Wild) rear gears... I am leaning toward the mild option as the car will not see any track time, but the wild option may draw just a little more attention Please let me the pros/cons of either version. Thanks, Joe

Just cuious if you go with the wild build why not still use the Stealth heads ? Ron
to go wild with "cleaned up" stock heads is futile ...

Joe, why not in-between those 2 builds, alittle grunt & still on the mild-er side, here is what i'd do.
Use the 71 bottom end, I'm guessing your going to use the steath heads right?? If so, i'd mill them down to get the compression around 9.3-9.5, In 71 the compression dropped on the 440, it basically became around 8.2-8.3 with 91cc iron heads & .018" factory steel shim gasket, so if you get the CC around 75 you'll get the compression up a solid point & still be able to run a decent cam but nothing crazy.
Run either a 750dp or 3310 750 vs. I'd park the eddy carbs.
Street Dom. intake
The Comp. XE275HL
If needed, get an adj. valvetrain, another good investment even on a mild build.
HP Mannys (but headers will be worth a solid 20 HP), 2.1/2" exhaust, don't go 3", you'll loose valuable torque.
3.55 gears
32-3400 10" stall, But get a "good" quality converter, NO JUNK like a TCI .
PTC is about the best quality you'll get for the coin, & the quality is great & the price is reasonable, i know from running 4 of there converters in different builds.
MSD or Mallory 6AL & an easy adjust MSD distributor so you can dial in the timing curve you want/need with ease.
The Charger should run 13s on street tires IF it doesn't smoke the crap out of them.

Mine is pretty similar to this: .30 over, stealth heads, 60303 kit, stock HP manifolds, six pack, SRP pistons .006 in the hole, stock rockers, TTI 2.5, std pump, hemi 6qt pan, points ignition for breakin then pertronix; 10:2SCR, 8.4DCR. Initially idled at about 13 on AF meter - rich, have it up to about 13.6 now by enlarging the outboard throttle bleed holes. Going in my 70RR convertible.
Idles at 850 (neutral), 20 base timing, 15" vac. Posted video of startup/idle on test stand here
