I have a non HP 440 motor stamped E440 with a mid Jan. assy stamping below it in the normal location. a "2" is stamped next to the assy date. Question is about a "V" that is stamped between engine stamp and assy stamp. What does this designate?

The 2 means it was assembled on the 2nd shift (day shift) and the V is probably an inverted A which means it has .020" oversized cylinders.
