I took my car to Woodburn today to see whar it would run in cool weather, it got up to 63.5 F with 61.3 % humidity, 29.99 B.P. on my last run at 3.11 PM, D.A. was 757 and my aircraft altimeter, set at 29.92, read -160, the car ran 9.993 ET at 133.42 MPH Earleir in the day it was 57.7 F with 67.6 % humidity with 29.95 BP the car ran 10.010 at 133.51 that was the first run at 10:40 AM. The next run it ran 10.001 at 133.68 MPH I ended up breaking out on the first round, the car had ran 10.040 at 133.43 MPH the run before the noon break and my Performaire said the car should run 10.04 I dialed 10.04 and cut a better light than my opponent and caught him between the 100 ft clocks and th first MPH light, I laid on the brakes and ran 10.001 at 127.42 Oh well thats bracket racing So I decided to see what the car would run all out, and of course I decided to change the carb. before making the last run of the day It had isssues, leaky front needle gasket, front float to high and so on, it ran great this summer on my car just the way it was Finally got it straighten around and made the pass, one of the tech guys met me at the ticket booth and siad thats it, your done, goodbye, see you next spring when the car is legal for the nines I told him I thought the car would run a 9.95, not a 9.993 I should have left the other carb on it, stupid me Anyone able to take the incrementals and translate the breakout run to what it would have ran all out? I hope so, what numbers do you need to do that

Congrats Cab! That is really moving the mail. Are you done for the season out there, or will you get a chance to fix the carb and get one more run in before snow flies? Mike

No more runs this year, I'm pulling the motor out do to leaning it out several different times this year due to .110 needles and seats in several different carbs. It is starting to blow the dipstick out of the dipstick tube Bob, I have had this motor on several different dynos, it is the original short block (400 block, 4.375 bore with 4.250 stroke)that I built back in 2003 with the ported iron heads and six pak, 511 C.i. then and it made 612 Hp at 5600 RPM and 644 Ft lbs at 4500 RPM. I switch cylinder heads two years later( MCH CNC Eddy RPM) and then the next year the crankshaft (took out the 4.25 stroke and put in a 4.300 to raise the compression from 9.29 to 1 to 10.28 to 1) and put it back on the local Studka dyno, it made 718 HP at 5800 RPM and 745 Ft lbs at 4600 RPM in the dead of winter, 26 F and 30.20 BP with really low humidity, did you see that Dan I had this short block on a DTS dyno this spring in Klamath Falls, OR with a set of MCH CNC ported 440-1 heads on it and it made 775 HP at 7200 RPM missing do to the headers flanges being smaller than the ports I ended up switching the SR heads (M.W. port size) off of the 527 motor and put those SR heads on this one to sell it , the buyer backed out so I put it back in the car So basically this motor with these heads hasn't been dyno tested this way The 1/8 miles where (1st to last run)6.347 at 107.66, 6.351 at 107.43(I tighten up the rear shocks on both the extension and compression before that run and left it that way the rest of the day)6.374 at 107.43 and the first round I dialed 10.04 and ran 10.001 on the brakes at 127.42, the 1/8 mile was 6.328 at 107.93 on that run. The last run was made after switching the carbs, it ran 6.331 at 107.65 MPH in the 1/8th and 9.993 at 133.42 MPH. I took off a holley List # 9375 Dominator that has been converted to down leg boosters to a later model Holley 9375-2 HP three circuit carb. The early carb had a AFR of 12.3 down low in 1st gear to 13.2 at the finish line, the later HP one had 13.8 down low in 1st gear to 14.8 AFR at the end of the run. This same HP carb ran fatter than that this summer at the same track with no changes OH WELL, so much for being willing to tests, tests and tests some more I guess I'm still learning I plan on dyno testing this motor with a freshen at the same dyno as it was on before with a set of headers that fit these heads so we will see what it makes, I'm thinking close to 750 HP and 730 Ft. Lbs on Oregon pump gas. The 440-1 flowed 370 at 28 inches at .700 lift, the SR on the same bench flowed 340 at 28 inches at .700 lift Same cam, with a the same combustion chamber sizes, 76.0 CC. That ends up making 10.8 to 1 comp. ratio on this motor now with a 22 CC dished psiton .I will test it again on Oregon 93 octane non ethanol premium pump gas

Congrats Cab ... now slow it down to 10.01 and save yourself a lot of money
Great job! Funny I've had everything to run 9's in my car but haven't done it yet, including the chassis cert. I've done it many times in other cars though so I have the full monkey suit and such. I love it though. Don't want to go back to 10's.
