With a stock 383 build with stealth heads, dp4b intake, and cam. Will a set of TTI headers be worth the extra money ($900) or should I stick to the stock manifolds. Will they make more power compared to the manifolds?

why would you spend that kind of cash on a set of headers? I'd do headers but NOT tti. Headers will help no doubt.

I know they are not cheap. What will fit just as good as the TTI's? It is a 69 Roadrunner with a 4speed and power steering.

Yep on the headers. Price out Dougs. Just realize they may start to rust within a year or two. They still fit good though (4 speed, manual steer) and were quite a bit less than TTIs.

The power boost will depend a lot on how much cam and which cam. Some performance cams are designed for headers and wouldn't do so well with manifolds some would. If you can post more info on your cam, you may get more info.

TTI makes nice headers. I've got a 1 7/8" set on a 400 based stroker. They fit as advertised and are durable.

I am not sure on the cam yet. My engine builder is going to decide which cam is going to work. I have read that you have to break in your cam with another pair of headers or manifolds before installing the TTI's in order for the ceramic coating not to be damaged.

I use 2" TTI's on my 493 and they are a great header. Paid $691. for them with just the nickel coating. I used to run Hedman 1-3/4 headers on my old 440 and they were a nice header. After 5 years they showed a little bit of rust. The Hedman is a good header and will work fine but the TTI is the best header. Ron

not sure about a 4 speed but I have used several sets of Summit 1 3/4" headers on b-body's and they have all fit well. I think they are they same as hedmans. I strip them then hit them w/ VHT paint and they are fine. They also have a set of coated headers for around $200+ Another good thing is you can use all of your ex mani studs...not header bolts needed.

Yep....800 and change. Still the nicest header I've ever used.

* Because they're well built

* Because they fit without banging the primary tubes with a hammer

* Because Quality costs money.

blah blah blah... for what he needs a set of hedmens will work fine for 1/5 the cost. go ahead and spend more money. For what TTI cost they should jump outof the box and self install

The summit 1 3/4 headers won't work with PS. The Summit ceramic coated headers 1 7/8"(Patriot headers) would work and be cheaper than the elites. They are supposed to fit low deck motors the best. The Patriot uncoated headers would be cheaper yet. I picked up some tti 2" headers that were never used on craigslist two days ago for $200. There are deals out there, you just have to look or wait for them.

Nope just making a suggestion... If he wants to drop $600 on a set of headers that's fine. ANd they DO work w/ P.S. as you can see here. Enjoy

Summit has to change their website. Their ad states that they don't work with PS.

I have had them on my 383 in the roadrunner for 10 years. I paid $800 back then. I got the ones ceramic coated inside and out. Well the coating has not weathered very well at all but then the car sits outside all year long.

Anyway they are well made and worth every cent. I always buy the best i can get as the less hassels the better. They have never leaked and i am still using the same gaskets too!

The 1-7/8" headers should be fine with a mild build.
The Chrome plated ones are $691. Not sure why the bare ones are not cheaper than $671?
They are $841 with the ceramic coating, and $870 polished? Man that adds up quick...
The initial cost is steep, but everyone I know that is running them have no complaints.
I'm running old Hooker 2" supercomp headers that don't fit well (low deck with Victor heads), are rusty, and have exhaust leaks. When I get the money, I'm changing to the TTI's they make a header specific for low deck bigblocks with raised exhaust port heads.

Actually it lists for a 67 Coronet because that is what I did the search on summit for. If you check for any b or e body car, their site will state they won't work with p/s.

Guess you proved them wrong.

They darn near do. I was amazed when I put the TTIs on my Belvedere. They slipped right in with no fuss, no hitting anything.

I think it took me less than an hour to install both sides.

Best header experience I ever had.
