Can someone give a ballpark figure for welding in a new torsion bar crossmember support for a 68'Charger? My neighbor runs a body shop and quoted me $1000.00 to $1200.00 I'm going to remove the seats and carpet myself.Does this sound reasonable for this type of job? Thanks for any info

Seems like a lot. Is he going to replace the front floor pan too?

I'd say it's a little bit steep. He is probably quoting high to make sure he still makes money even if running into issues along the way.
To do a nice job you are looking a 3 hours to remove the old one, grind off old welds and rust, and clean the entire area. 3 more hours to fit the new one in place, mark where you will drill holes in the crossmember for your rosette welds, drill the holes, reinstall, then weld into place, grind the welds smooth. At $150 per hour shop rate thats $900.
