Swapped in a 5 speed manual trans from a 94 Ram into my 87 Ram. Even used the 94's shifter boot.

All was well until I recently replaced the big thick factory shifter handle for a Hurst shifter and handle.

The hole in the boot is huge by large. Any ideas on what to use to fill in the extra space?

a tapered rubber bung plug with a hole in the center, like you use in a chemistry set.

Is replacing the factory boot with a Hurst boot not an option?

Thanks guys. I will look into the grommet deal.
I may be finally be able to use my Home Depot gift card.

As for Hurst shifter boot. I only entertained the idea from pics online. Most look a bit too short. The internal shifter mechanism leaves most of the shifter above the floor. It takes a big boot to cover it up.

Any more ideas, keep em coming.

Look inside a 5/8" spark plug socket- I bet the rubber bushing inside the socket could be trimmed to fit in that gap.

What about a shock eye bushing?
