Upon tear down of my heap, ALL of intake valves had oil on em and the exhaust were all dry so I assume my intake is leaking and I`ve tried everything I can think of to seal it. Actually I didn`t try the right stuff cos I thaught silicone and fuel were a no no plus it would be a bear to remove the intake for a change or inspection............any suggestions?

Were you using just the metal pan gasket or what?

I use the paper between the head and valley tray and the intake straight on the tray.

We use MOTOSEAL 1 on our intake. Supposed to be resistant to gasoline.
It has worked great for us.

We've always used silicone on intake gaskets.

FWIW my intake hasn't been off the motor since I put it on 5 years ago.

I`ve had it milled and the fitment seemed good with and w/out gaskets.

I spray hi-tach on the intake face of the paper gaskets so they stick to the intake side... always on when I remove intake.

(advanced etc sells it)

I have always used the paper on both sides of the metal gasket, just sprayed with hi tak or something similar so it stays in place.

I`d have to mill it again if I use both gaskets as it doesn`t fit w/both plus the leak appears to be bet. the pan and head side not the intake side. :shruggy

spray the hitack on the paper gasket and stick to the head! then use the metal pan and intake side as normal.

dom, if the intake is leaking, the paper should be saturated on the bottom side. look at the int.valve stems to see if oil is seeping past the seals. with all those yrs of street driving and that roller cam the guides might be worn.

Pan against the heads, the pan seals the oil. Then put the paper on the intake side

So are you saying the metal pan seals better than the paper? Cos if that`s the case then I`ll give it a shot. I`m re-porting the heads now and will be ready for the valve job and final assembly soon so hopefully I can pick up the block from Pettis and get this pig assembled and hit the track. Thankxxx again guys........can`t have oil deluding my 9.78 intake charge.

because the exhaust side pushes and the intake suck's,,,,,literally, intake will pull oil from any place it will seep,, exhaust wil burn it in the port if the guides let a little oil past the valve stems.

On my motor, I used a valley pan from Hughes Engines( this is the thicker pan) I trimmed the pan to a 1/4 of an inch and used a bead of gray Right Stuff a long the bottom of the head and the factory mounting bar and bolts at the front and rear, let sit over night. This way I only used 1 Standard Intake gasket, never had a leak.....Matt

if the intake is the problem, Ultra Grey silicones work best but alot of valves look this way comming off stock engines, i would check the guide clearances and put new seals on the heads

Again, the guides checked out fine and we put the new blue bad ass seals on when we did the heads 8 months ago.
